Group Health Research Institute’s Center for Community Health and Evaluation conducted a three-year evaluation to assess the impact of health impact assessments in the United States and to identify elements critical for success.
CCHE is meeting the challenge of skyrocketing demand for community health evaluation, which is driven by several factors. Rising interest in CCHE services also comes from the national trend toward “place-based” programs that address local health issues.
Group Health has been approved for two research awards from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to study ways to improve care for back pain and to connect patients with community resources. The projects are part of a portfolio of patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research that addresses PCORI’s National Priorities for Research and Research Agenda. Authorized by the Affordable Care Act, PCORI is an independent nonprofit dedicated to funding comparative clinical effectiveness research.
Obesity-related illnesses cost more than $190 billion annually. Interventions that introduce healthy behaviors in one family might have a ripple effect, spreading through networks and possibly reducing health care costs.
